The Writer

​A sentence fills the room with expectations. It sets the mood, delivers the punchline, murders the king. A sentence wields power. Words cluster under its dominion. They line up and do as they’re told. Most are deemed deficient and end up deleted. The remaining letters quail. They know none of them are safe. In writing, even the darlings get killed.
